If you plant a seed...
The Secret Garden Tea Company began when two good friends, Kathy Wyder (pictured right) and Andrea Wadman, set out to make Kathy's grandmother happy. Gammy Bentall often complained, "There is no place to go for tea in Kerrisdale", a village like community nestled in the heart of Vancouver.
They set to work finding the perfect location, the perfect pastry chef and the most flavorful teas. They refinished tables and oversaw renovations. Within months The Secret Garden Tea Company opened its doors. Thanks to the warm welcome and continued support of family, friends and loyal customers, this unique restaurant and teashop was given the perfect start. Gammy would be proud!
The Garden will grow...
Erin McBeath (pictured left) joined the ladies at the Secret Garden a few years later. First, in the kitchen designing beautiful mini high tea sandwiches and later, overseeing the running of the restaurant and catering department. Having shared a family tradition of afternoon tea with her own grandmother Nan, she felt right at home.
Since the launch of the Secret Garden Kathy managed to get married and have two beautiful children. Andrea also married and quickly added three to her family tree. And Erin agreed to take Kathy's brother John's hand in marriage. With Andrea's family growing, she decided to make a full time commitment to her children. Erin and Kathy joined forces making the Secret Garden a family owned enterprise and fulfilling Erin's lifelong dream of owning her own business!
And flowers will bloom...
With Kathy as the visionary and Erin in charge of the details this partnership is the key to providing you with an extraordinary tea experience. Together, they continue to dedicate themselves to making The Secret Garden Tea Company a very special place that all people can enjoy.
Whether it's High Tea in the store or a cup of tea at home, their wish for you is to always feel better for spending time in the garden...
