Jordan is Turning One!

Can you believe that Jordan is one? Erin says she is a smarty pants. She has seven teeth and she is walking on her own. She loves trying to put on her own shoes now.  Her favourite person in the world is Carter (Kathy's son).

Hats On To Avalon

In 2002, when Avalon was in dire need, Erin and Kathy came up with the idea of a Garden Tea Party as a fundraiser and through their sponsorship it has become a growing annual success.

This year was a great success and raised $12,600. The theme was Victorian and of course the hats were simply stunning. The tea and treats were sensational and we heard rave reviews about the high tea. Avalon sold a record number of tickets to the event and the proceeds go directly to keeping the doors of Avalon open.

Magnifico Book Launch!

Magnifico Book Launch! Local author and longtime Secret Garden customer Victoria Miles recently paid us a compliment by hosting a launch party for her latest book, Magnifico, at our tea shop.

Victoria says, "Many of the passages of "Magnifico" were first drafted in the Secret Garden and I spent even more time thinking about the story while enjoying my tea. So it is possible that without you and "The Secret Garden" (and tea of course!) Magnifico might never have been written...I can't tell you what it meant to me to see so many friends and family enjoying together one of my favourite places in the world. A rare experience, and one which I will never forget."

Weekend to End Breast Cancer
The Secret Garden is thrilled to be sponsoring Val Orchison on her weekend walk on August 20th. Val spoke about her personal journey with breast cancer at last year's September Fashion Show which raised money for the Canadian Breast Cancer Foundation in conjunction with Twist Fashions. She is wearing a picture on her back of Kathy's grandmother "Gammy" who died in December 1995 from breast cancer. Thanks so much Val!!!!
